Daphnia

Tracking of Daphnia in a 30 ml flask. Illumination was from the side, creating a darkfield effect. The video was taken with a digital CMOS video camera (1600 x 1200).

Bacteria

Tracking of bacteria. In the video Ovobacter swimming behaviour was observed using Nomarski Interference microscope.

Sulphur Bacterium

Tracking of bacteria. Swimming behaviour of a sulphur bacterium (Thiovolum sp.)

Jellyfish

Tracking of common jellyfish (Aurelia aurita) in an aquarium. Illumination was from the side, creating a darkfield effect. The video was taken with a digital CMOS video camera (1600 x 1200).

Drosophila

Tracking of Drosophila (fruit flies) in a petri-dish.

Flexible tracking for challenging biological environments

Background subtraction

Ideal for moving organisms against relatively stable backgrounds.

Minimum background subtraction

Useful when tracking multiple organisms against uneven backgrounds.

Edge detection

For low-contrast objects against relatively uniform backgrounds.

Simple thresholding

For strong contrast and very slow-moving or stationary objects.

Single background subtraction

For scenes with a static background and a limited number of moving objects.

Capture movement in three dimensions

Go beyond 2D tracking with dual-camera 3D analysis.

LabTrack can reconstruct 3D movement from dual camera streams or recorded video, allowing researchers to measure X, Y and Z coordinates for moving organisms.

The current software outputs X, Y, Z coordinates, area, length, track ID, timestamps and other session information, and can connect to MS-SQL databases.
